Qld: Search for missing fisherman to be scaled back

BRISBANE, April 15 AAP - A search for a teenage fisherman missing in far north Queensland
will be scaled back today.

Eighteen-year-old Matthew John Kinneally, a crew member aboard the fishing trawler
Santiego, was last seen leaving a party at Hay Island north of Cairns on Wednesday night.

Other crew members raised the alarm early on Thursday when they discovered he was missing
from the vessel, anchored in Princess Charlotte Bay.

Two planes, two helicopters, several trawlers and water police searched the area on
Thursday and yesterday.

Cairns water police would coordinate a final aerial sweep of the coastline where Mr
Kinneally went missing before stopping the search, police said today.
