WA: Detainees' artwork to feature in exhibition
PERTH, Jan 13 AAP - They gained the attention of the nation after trying to illegallyenter Australia by boats but a group of detainees at Port Hedland Detention Centre couldsoon be receiving a different kind of attention.
The group of detainees have been busy making ornate sculptures, paintings, portraits,embroidery and crochet pieces to feature in a new exhibition entitled Across The Water,which opened today.
Among the items on display over the next four weeks at the Courthouse Arts Centre andGallery in Port Hedland are intricate paper sculptures by Chinese detainees and clothingand cushions …
